mom.jpgI’m the mom. Thank you for visiting. Feel free to read, link and comment. I would love to hear from you!

A lot of people do 100 Things About Me.  Here are few things to help you get to know me.

  1. I am a Christian,
  2. a wife,
  3. and a mother.
  4. I am the oldest of 14 children.
  5. I am 1/8 American Indian, Tlinket to be precise.
  6. I have had all of my children at home with a midwife.
  7. I was homeschooled from the age of 10.
  8. I love to read, but rarely make time.
  9. Consequently, I collect books that I know I will probably never read.
  10. It makes me feel good to be surrounded by books,
  11. and I rationalize my collection by convincing myself that my children will read them all.
  12. My hubby and I met at church when we were 12.
  13. Our fathers teased and tormented us as young teens by saying they were going to arrange a marriage for us.
  14. When we were engaged at the age of 17, our parents were thrilled, but
  15. others had dark suspicions that the marriage was being arranged.
  16. Having 10 children convinced everyone that we really do like each other.
  17. I have an irrational fear of ticks and leaches.
  18. I’m ok with rodents, snakes, tarantulas, cute little lizards, and other creepy-crawlies.
  19. I love math. I think in numbers. Numbers are my friends. I was a math geek in school, doing 2nd year algebra when I was 10.
  20. I have a mole low on my left cheek. My children like to touch it.
  21. I hated my stick-straight hair when I was a teen, and constantly permed it. Now I love having low-maintennance, shiny smooth hair.
  22. I have big feet. I won’t name a size, but they’re bigger than yours.
  23. I have big hands for a woman.
  24. I don’t worry about the numbers on the scale because I know I’m big boned.
  25. I weigh roughly the same as when I was married, though I strongly suspect the weight isn’t quite distributed the same way.
  26. I despise exercise, but
  27. I force myself to do some hard work every now and then so I don’t turn into a slug.
  28. My favorite dessert is ice cream.
  29. My favorite ice cream is anything with chocolate in the name.
  30. My favorite color is also chocolate.
  31. I am slightly obsessed with chocolate,
  32. and with coffee – especially if it’s chocolate flavored.
  33. I am a procrastinator, which is why…
  34. …there are not 100 items on this list.  I’ll work on it soon someday eventually maybe.

    I see we have something in common. I bet I have the biggest feet! I also have big hands for a woman. I’ll bet you’re tall! Have a good one!

  2. kimc adds her thoughts::

    Felicia,
    I’m only 5’6″. Not tall, but not short. Thoroughly average, I think, unlike the size of my hands and feet. :)

  3. Michelle Potter adds her thoughts::

    kimc, I am also 5’6″. I read recently that the average height of an American woman is 5’3″, so that makes us taller than average! ;)

  4. Marianne adds her thoughts::

    Forgive this ridiculously late comment, but I’m new to your blog. I’m 5’3″, have ridiculously HUGE hands, and wear 9 1/2 shoes. I don’t think I win, but c’mon! Would I tip over if I wore a 7? ;-)

    I’m excited about your blog and learning more about your lovely family.

  5. Cheryl P adds her thoughts::

    I would love to have size 91/2 feet. i am also 5’6″ and have had size 11 feet since 5th grade.

  6. Kimberly adds her thoughts::

    Hi Kim!
    I’ve have enjoyed reading your blog for a while now and admire you ”mothering” all your children, home schooling them and caring for them the way you do. I always wanted to have at least 12, but we had to stop at 6 and now are on our journey to adopt 4 at present. God is good!!
    Many blessings to you and ALL yours!
    Kimi

  7. Lindsey adds her thoughts::

    New reader, so forgive me for being tardy!
    I’m 5’9″… and “large boned” hehehehehe =). I wouldn’t be considered fat, but if you just saw my weight you’d think I was.
    I wear a size 10 shoe. However, I’m pregnant with #2 and it seems as though my feet are growing (as they did when I was pregnant with Esther).
